Catholic Encyclopedia
The 1917 Catholic Encyclopedia was a comprehensive guide to the Church, its history and teaching. The scholarship which is represented is unlikely to be surpassed in any similar project. In a most impressive project, utilising the ease of communication afforded by the Internet, Kevin Knight and his team have gathered co-ordinated the efforts of volunteers from all over the world to post the entire text of the 11,614 articles from the encyclopaedia. Started on 8 Dec 1995, the project was completed on 1 May 2000. The text is available for use at the New Advent Website and the articles are cross-referenced with hyperlinks. This impressive achievement will be of lasting service to the Church and is a powerful illustration of the good that can be accomplished by volunteers working for the glory of God.

Catholic Flash Cards for children. These are coloured cards with simple statements of apologetics in the tradition of Catholic Biblical answers to common questions. As Such they do fit more closely with the needs of children from the USE rather that the secular agnostic UK. However, ther is an invitation to submit ideas for new cards. If they catch on, we could build up a UK section! The cards are very attractively preseted and would make great gifts for children in the parish. (A word of warning - the online ordering page invites you to submit your credit card details on a non-secure page. Possibly better to order by post.)
