Evangelising England and Wales
The Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation was launched by the bishops in April 2004. It has a team of Four full time members under Mgr Keith Baltrop. CASEdescribes itself as "dedicated to enthusing, engaging and equipping Catholic individuals, parishes, schools, communities and organisations to become involved in what his holiness Pope John Paul II describes as 'the urgent talk of evangelisation'". The website is bright, bold and attractive. It contains sections on various evangelisation events, monthly reflections on faith and culture and a regular focus on different initiatives. The resources section plans to feature the new movements and communities: a much need sign of hope.

A Papal Institute founded by the will of Pope John Paul II, with Cardinal Chrisoph Schonborn as chancellor. Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines
Recent activities of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front have included the massacre of 20 unarmed Christian civilians at Lanao del Sur and other acts of violence in Mindanao. The site includes news releases from the Philippine Bishops’ conference on these and other matters and an excellent and balanced interview with Bishop Orlando Quevedo on the Mindanao situation.
Cardinals and Conclaves
The Vatican Website has a list of all the current and recently deceased cardinals with separate lists of Cardinal electors and Cardinals over 80. (Rather than try to type out the full URL or to search through the Vatican site, it will be easier to go to Google and search “cardinals vatican”!) Salvador Miranda has an impressively detailed site devoted to Cardinals, including an alphabetical listing of all Cardinals created since 1903 with biographies. The list is updated using the Daily Bulletin of the Holy See.
Pontifical Council for Health and Pastoral Care
Healthcare professionals may be interested in the website for the Vatican dicastery relating to health care. There is a wealth of documentation from various international conferences as well as papal teaching relevant to health care workers.
The Assyrian Church of the East
Sr Cecilia was a Chaldean sister - part of the Church in union with Rome. Although not in full communion with Rome, the Assyrian Church of the East has, in recent years, entered into close dialogue with the Holy See, particularly the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. A highlight of these discussions was the Joint Christological Declaration of 1994 - healing a theological division that dates from the Council fo Ephesus in 431. This declaration and many other fascinating documents may be found at the website.
Birmingham Oratory
The site contains some of the ordinary information that might be expected about the times of services and the various activities of the Oratory. Additionally, the general browser will find the section on CArdinal Newman interesting. The pages particularly deal wih the cause of Newman and there is a useful list of literature available at reasonable cost from the Friends of CArdinal Newman. Also well worth checking is the Newman Reader page which has e-texts of many of Newman's works.
