Pro-Life
The Sisters of The Gospel Of Life
The late Cardinal Winning launched the Pro-life Initiative on Mother's day, 9th March 1997, in order to provide a caring, Christian response to anyone faced with a crisis pregnancy, from whatever background or faith. Since then, many hundreds of women have been given new hope - and babies' lives been saved. Given that Faith's own Sisters of the Gospel of Life have starring roles, we should really have reviewed this website long ago. There is much inspirational material here, not least the photos of where it all happens, complete with 'Pooh Room' and eager volunteers! The Sisters and their supporters are looking forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary of the encyclical on 25th March 2005
Association Of Priests For The Gospel Of Life
Founded in June by Faith's Fr Tim Finigan, The Association of Priests for the Gospel of Life exists to unite priests in the UK in their pro-life witness. In particular, members are asked to offer prayer and sacrifices, with at least one Mass each year for the protection of the unborn. The Association aims to support, encourage and advise lay people; keep priests informed and provide a network for them, and offer help for those in crisis situations. Over 1000 catholic priests have now signed Fr Tim's recent letter to the Times on the Mental Capacity Bill - surely an unprecedented display of priestly pro-life witness in these isles.
LIFE
Provides a nationwide care service for pregnant women, unsupported mothers, women with problems relating to pregnancy, fertility or infertility, or suffering from the effects of abortion. They aim to protect and preserve good health, and educate the general public in all matters relating to pregnancy.
LIFE is not affiliated to any other organisations except LIFE Hospital Trust and Zoe's Place Trust.
CORE
Josephine Quintavalle, founded Comment on Reproductive Ethics (CORE) in 1994, with 15 other colleagues. CORE is a public interest group focusing on ethical dilemmas surrounding human reproduction, particularly the new technologies of assisted conception.
It aims to facilitate informed and balanced debate, to involve lay people in discussion of the issues involved, to encourage the broader participation of philosophers, theologians and social scientists in dialogue, and where necessary to bring about democratic reform to the legislation controlling these practices.
Absolute respect for the human embryo is a principal tenet. Of particular concern to CORE are matters relating to the physical and psychological welfare of children born from these various practices. Most recently the group has been involved in conferences, Parliamentary briefings, and lobbying against human cloning.
CORE works on a network basis without formal membership and has a contact base of 1,500 people, representing supportive, neutral and opposing viewpoints.
The Linacre Centre
The Catholic centre for Bioethics, based in London. The website carries papers on subjects such as conjoined (siamese) twins, cloning and various other issues of political and legal importance in Britain.
Society for the Protection of Unborn Children
Great information and resources. Especially helpful for students
Supporting Motherhood
Standupgirl seeks to speak to those who are "pregnant and Scared". It begins with a bold and stylish image presentation featuring Becky who decided to keep her child. This is surely a powerful and streetwise pro-life apologetic for all those in secondary education.
Billings for PDA
Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) charting software. After a year of trials requested by the Drs Billings, the software was improved by recommendations arising from the trial and gained the approval of WOOMB, the world organisation for the Billings method. The software can be used on a handheld (PDA) or desktop computer.
Deacons for Life
Priests for Life, founded by Fr Frank Pavone, has long been known as an excellent pro-life organisation (first mentioned in
Faith Online in November 1995). Deacons for Life is an offshoot aimed at supporting Deacons in pro-life work and ministry.

Pro-Life Inspiration
"I shall accept whatever they will do to me provided they save the child". The newly canonised St Gianna Molla, doctor and mother, is well known now for the facts surrounding her death. Little known, however, are the facts of her equally inspiring life.
Cambridge University Pro-Life Society
On 15 March, this year, the Cambridge University Pro-Life Society distributed a leaflet to the pigeonholes of every undergraduate at the university. This was part of their "campaign to make the plight of the unborn known to the future doctors, barristers, politicians and campaigners studying with us here at Cambridge." This remarkable initiative was made all the more effective by the quality of the leaflet that was distributed. Every sentence had to stand quotation on its own and every statement had to be carefully referenced. The resulting leaflet is one of the best short statements of the pro-life position. The text of the leaflet and the references are published at the website. The society was also a major influence in defeating moves to affiliate the Students' Union to the National Abortion Campaign. The website for Student LifeNet, a national coalition of pro-life students is also worth a visit.

Fax your MP
It has never been so important for Catholics to contact their MPs about pro-life issues. Sometimes this can be put off because of the bother of writing a letter. A new service on the Web allows people to type in their postcode, then fax their MP. An email is sent asking you to confirm before the fax is sent. An excellent way to encourage people to contact their MPs.
