Faith Summer Session 2019
"To seek God is the greatest adventure
To find God is the greatest achievement" - St Augustine
Cost: £180 / Concessions: £155
From modest beginnings, the event has grown into a major annual conference for young adults, attracting students, seminarians and active young Catholics from all over the UK and beyond. Set in the beautiful grounds of Woldingham School, Surrey, the Faith Summer Session gives young Catholics a chance to ask questions about their faith and meet other young Catholics in an informal and prayerful atmosphere.
Talk 1 - God :
"Higher than my highest and more inward than my innermost self." - St Augustine
(Fr. Matthew O'Gorman).
Talk 2 - Man :
"The Glory of God is man fully alive." - St Irenaeus
(Fr. Stephen Dingley).
Talk 3 - Sin :
"By the Cross we know the gravity of sin but also the greatness of God's love toward us." - St John Chrysostom
(Fr. Kevin Douglas).
Talk 4 - Jesus :
"The Son of God became man so that we might become God." - St Athanasius
(Canon Luiz Ruscillo).
Talk 5 - Church and Sacraments :
"We cannot have God as Father without the Church as our Mother." - St Cyprian
(Fr. David Barrett).
Talk 6 - Mary :
"What the virgin Eve bound through her disbelief, the Virgin Mary loosened by her faith." - St Iranaeus
(Fr. Phil Cunnah).
The format of the five days provides an excellent balance of social, spiritual and catechetical activities. As usual, the focus of the week will be the series of talks, each building on one another to develop a coherent, dynamic vision of the faith. Each day there will be Mass, morning and night prayer and, on one of the evenings, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and confessions. There will also be plenty of time for recreation and socialising: the afternoons will be free for playing sports, going on walks or simply relaxing, while the evening's activities will include a ceilidh and an entertainment night.
All accommodation and meals are provided on-site and specific dietary requirements are catered for. A tuck-shop is also available for the purchasing of sweets and snacks.
