- Faith Summer Session 2014: A ReviewIn early August 2014, several hundred young Catholics from across the British Isles gathered for five days at The Woldingham School in Surrey. They came together to attend the Faith Movement’s 42nd Annual Summer Session. From modest beginnings, this event has now grown into a major annual conference for young adults. Their number includes an ever burgeoning cohort of seminarians, priests and religious. The overwhelming majority, however, are young lay Catholics.

- Faith Summer Break - How I spent my summerIn the summer of 2015, my Dad asked me if I wanted to go on the Faith Summer Break. At first I felt obliged to go, like he wanted me to and I had to because he had investigated it. Then I felt a bit daunted, new people… I had just started at my new secondary school, which was hard enough. New people; how would I fit in?
- The Synod On The Family - A Mother's PerspectiveWhen the synod entitled “Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the context of Evangelisation” was announced by Pope Francis back in 2013, I thought it sounded like a very good idea. The rich truths of the teachings of the Church on marriage and the family are now comprehensively supported by a wealth of sociological evidence. Indeed, if we read the website of the Family Education Trust (which does not make its appeal to any text or creed) we find, under the heading “The Importance of the Famil...
- A Young Person's Experience of Practising The FaithCiaran Corrigan FAITH Magazine November-December 2009I didn't exactly jump with excitement at the opportunity to produce this piece. As soon as the organiser of the Faith Summer Session said my name I thought "What does he want?" and following that phone call I thought long and hard about what I would say. Would this be OK? I'm not sure I like what I have to offer. Still, it has given me the opportunity to reflect on my faith and the...
- Evenings of Faith in LondonLooking up at bodiless legs walking around a London square whilst discussing the vision of the FAITH movement, in the basement hall of Warwick Street Church, can be a surreal experience. If they knew what they were passing by, the owners of the legs might step gingerly down the metal stairway that leads to a glimpse of Future-Church. Numbers at the Evenings of Faith have been steadily increasing over our two years: in this summer series several large pizzas and some bottles of wine were ne...

- Pastoral Recommendations for the Year of Faith1. In preparation for the Year of Faith, all of the faithful are invited to read closely and meditate upon Pope Benedict XVI's Apostolic Letter Porta Fidei.2. The Year of Faith "will also be a good opportunity to intensify the celebration of the faith in the liturgy, especially in the Eucharist". In the Eucharist, mystery of faith and source of the new evangelisation, the faith of the Church is proclaimed, celebrated and...
- Christianity and Science: Confronting Challenges to Faith and Reason in the History of Philosophy and TheologyJoseph Laracy FAITH Magazine September – October 2011Joseph Laracy offers a succinct and very helpful overview of the development of post-Reformation philosophy, which through modernism and post-modernism affirms presuppositions which, a priori, make the harmony of science and religion impossible. In the process he brings out well how the concepts of "formal and final causes ... are making a serious return" through some modern...

- The Study of Theology and the Year of FaithDr Dudley Plunkett FAITH Magazine November – December 2012Dr Dudley Plunkett brings out how the Church expects theology to done in the context of the virtue of faith. He gives some living examples which have borne fruit. One is reminded of an editorial of ours exactly 25 years ago, "The Theologian: Must he be a Saint?", reprinted in "Perspectives in Theology" (Family Publications), which is available from our subscriptions address or...
- Lumen Fidei: Encyclical for the Year of FaithCertain aspects concerning Lumen Fidei assert themselves even before one consults the text of the encyclical itself. First, the timing. It seems apparent that Lumen Fidei is intended as the guiding magisterial document for the “Year of Faith”, a celebration which outlasted the reign of the pope who convoked it in commemoration of the opening session of the Second...
